'Fantastic Review' 2006 Kicking Back Shiraz Cabernet'

By Jeni Port, The Age, Epicure Magazine - 14th April 2009

' Richard Sheedy, ex Elderton, was in the wine game for a long time before he broke free in 1997 with his own label, Glen Eldon. With Vineyards in the Barossa and Eden Valley, Sheeds has a broad source of material to draw upon and he can deliver wines at a number of price points, hence this great little red, Kicking Back 2006 Shiraz Cabernet. As the name suggests, its a wine to open and relax with. Strong, youthful purple, its a chunky, plump red in the Barossan more-is-good style with bucket loads of fleshy spicy fruit. The good news is that at the price, its far from simple, far from over-oaked and not too high on the alcohol scale (14.5%)

91 Points (Exceptional)

Inky purple black color. Chocolate wafer, cassis jam, suede, sweet spice, and olive tapenade aromas follow through on a round,
supple entry to a fruity-yet-dry medium-to-full body with black cherry and toffee notes.
Finishes with a long, decadent tangy berry, apple, and nut fade.
A nicely balanced show style cab that will pair nicely with spicy Latin beef dishes.
