Exceptional Value

I’m very excited about two of my new releases the 2007 Glen Eldon “Kicking Back Shiraz-Cabernet and the 2008 Glen Eldon “Dry Bore Shiraz”. Both wines are classic in style and in terms of quality are equal to that of the 2002 Vintage wines from Glen Eldon that received such brilliant acclaim from the likes of James Halliday (94pts) and Robert Parker Jnr (94 pts).

The 2007 Kicking Back is a special wine – due to the small vintage of 2007 I made the decision to blend the Dry Bore parcels with the Cabernet and wow has it paid off, this wine is rich in aromas of plum, cassis, spice and blackcurrant, with silky smooth tannins and a fruit explosion on the palate combined with superb length, this would have to be one of the best wines for drinking this winter or over the next few years – say to 2016. The real excitement I guess comes from the value – for only $16 a bottle it’s an absolute bargain! But be quick as this was one of the smallest vintages on record and stocks will not last long.

As for my baby the 2008 Dry Bore Shiraz, well be aware… the hallmark characters of the 2002 abound, Rich generous and full-bodied … layers of dark berries, mulberry and plum flavours enhanced by notes of liquorice and allspice cascade over a long sumptuous finish. A wine that will provide years of drinking pleasure from now through to 2020. 2008 was brilliant in all regards, with only slightly higher yields than 2007, the parcels of fruit were of exceptional quality and as a result again total volumes for the vintage are low – so please ensure you act quickly to secure some of this outstanding wine for your cellar.
