It took 16 years to find the vineyard with fruit good enough for Richard’s flagship Barossa Shiraz. A clear vision and flavour profile in mind he finally found the vineyard on the back roads between Eden Valley and Willamstown (just don’t ask where – it’s a closely guarded secret)
Planted in 1891 it is a small dry grown gnarly old vineyard producing tiny quantities of intensely flavoured fruit. Hand harvested these gems are then given tender loving care in the winery.
Even then after all that work the Twisted Trunk is only released in the very best years. When Richard is truly satisfied that it meets his exacting standards. Otherwise it is blended into other wines
An exhilarating expression of the very best Barossa Shiraz can be and truly a world class wine
The wine has intense dark chocolate and plum aromas, while these components carry through to the palate added mocha; spice and pepper fill the mouth. Velvety tannins and lush rich fruit combine to deliver structure and balance offering enjoyment now and over the next 10 plus years from vintage.
Extremely limited quantities on strict allocation – maximum 6 bottles per customer.
